A lot of people are asking, what actually happened on the 28th of October sitting? I know what they meant, they are actually asking what happened after we entered the SUK compound but before we entered the hall. Because most of what happening before we entered SUK and after we entered the assembly hall were reported in the mainstream paper.

So I would like to start from the moment we crossed the gate of the SUK building. We were walking in a group, all 28 of us, and there were only 28 of us… Nizar was holding Sivakumar’s hand, as we anticipated the police might have aimed Sivakumar for his robe. (Sivakumar was on full Speaker’s attire)

True enough, a police officer named ASP Bala (the police in the pic) came to us and spoke in a very good manner. He told us he is not barring us from going, but he just wanted to serve Sivakumar a notice. It was already 10am, and the assembly was supposed to start. We asked ASP Bala to serve the notice after the assembly, because no assemblyman shall be harassed by any police when he/she is in the compound of state assembly. In fact, police can even be incriminated for doing so because under Section 124 of the Penal Code, anyone who blocks a lawmaker from carrying out his duties can be jailed up to 7 years!

And ASP Bala and his men were virtually doing so. They blocked our way from moving forward. They grabbed Sivakumar’s headgear. I was furious and I grabbed ASP Bala’s beret in return. Suddenly I heard someone shouting “Tangkap dia!”, few men held both my hands and dragged me out from where I stood. Fortunately Thomas Su & Wong Kah Woh snatched me back, and we retreated.

Sivakumar lost his headgear in the 1st round melee. We withdrew ourselves from the SUK compound and briefly informed the press about what had happened inside. While we were having the press conference, those police officers reconverted to calm and well-mannered people.

We then decided to go in angain. When we entered the compound, we saw more policemen. Again, ASP Bala and his men approached us, but without any smile on their face. This time round, without the presence of presses, they were rough and tough. They were not hesitate to show their genuine intention to grab the speaker’s robe. We had a tough time trying to resist. The result of the huge commotion: Nizar was shoved, Thomas Su was elbowed, Ming Kai was dragged on the ground, and eventually, Sivakumar was defrocked, indecently!

These are what happened during that day. This is my report, as a witness of the entire episode. If someone tell you there is no such commotion, he or she is definitely telling a lie. I can bet with my life! And the reason why I am writing this piece, in the middle of the night, is to give you all a clear picture on what happened on that shameful day. I truly hope that besides news reports that describe what happened as the “alleged commotion”, this piece of witness’s account will be counted as “important evidence” in the history.
